At SIP at the Signal Box, our mission is to create an inviting space where you can enjoy great coffee and a bite to eat.
From organic teas, to vibrant matcha. Warming chai to luxurious hot chocolate. We have a range of hot drinks to suit everyone. But the cornerstone of our hot drink offering is our amazing coffee.
Supplied by the awesome team at Garage Coffee Roasters in Canterbury. Our house coffee is speciality grade, which means its not only super tasty, it’s of the highest quality, fully traceable, ethically farmed and processed. Then carefully roasted and brewed to achieve the best possible flavour.
We take pride in providing a memorable coffee experience. That starts with the right beans and milk, through to the precision extraction, milk steaming method and service from our staff. We use Hinxden Dairy Farm whole milk and a double espresso shot as standard. We firmly believe the right combination of coffee beans, espresso extraction, milk quality, milk temperature and steaming technique gives us the perfect coffee.

Folkestone Harbour Views
Take a moment, SIP, stay awhile and enjoy.
The harbour views are unrivaled at SIP at the Signal Box and perfect for people watching. The seating is bar-style, along the beautiful sliding windows (that open during summer for a fresh sea breeze). We also have a little shady terrace of outside seating. Or you can grab a takeaway for your walk along the Harbour Arm and Folkestone beach boardwalk.
Afternoon Tea in the Tea Room
We are pleased to say our NEW Tea Room is open and we now serving Afternoon Tea at weekends. This is a newly built indoor space that allows us to seat more people, in a quiet, low-seated space, located just next door. Designed to sympathetically blend into the old platform and sit alongside the Signal Box. The decor includes magnificent Victorian style floor tiles, historic train photos and creates a stepped-back-in-time feel with a vintage dresser and tea trolley.
The SIP Tea Room will be open for anyone to enjoy coffee & cake on weekdays 9-4 (please order at the counter inside the Signal Box and we’ll bring it to you). This area is then reserved for advance bookings only on Saturday & Sunday afternoons.

We bring our passion for quality food and big flavour to offer some delicious brunch, lunch and afternoon snack options.
Only the best ingredients go into our thick deli-style sandwiches and each one is freshly made-to-order on soft white or granary farmhouse bread. Food from the kitchen is available daily 10-3 (or until sell-out). Grab a SIP Meal Deal for lunch on-the-go or the perfect beachside picnic.

The iconic signal box building
Come inside to see the original levers that controlled the crossing of trains in and out of Folkestone Harbour Station dating back to 1915. Fully viewable and accessible, the levers are the centrepiece of the room.
Enjoy your drink or bite to eat surrounded by the nostalgia of the past in this historic location. We hope to marry together a celebration of the sites history with a modern and welcoming coffee shop vibe.
Each seat inside SIP offers views over the boats in harbour, out to sea with the cliffs of Dover in the distance or along the beautifully restored station platform. Have you seen our new conservatory Tea Room? A brand new dining space that allows us to serve Afternoon Tea and host private parties in the heart of the old station platform.
